Service Description

Since the beginning of time, cultures around the world have used sound for healing practices. 40 000 years ago, Aborigines used didgeridoos to heal broken bones, muscle tears and illness. Sound healing is also well known in yogic traditions with the use of “bija” or the mystical “seed syllables” contained within mantras (healing prayers). In China, Qigong also uses mantras, chants and sound. Pythagoras taught that sound can be used to bring harmony to the soul, purify the mind and heal the physical body. All things have their own sound, resonance or frequency, including each part of our bodies, which have their own natural resonance. Vibrational medicine is based on the idea that disease is a result of those natural resonances becoming out of tune either due to stress, illness or environmental factors. The aim of Sound Therapy is to return the body’s own vibrations to their natural states. As sound is vibration, which touches every part of our being, the sound is heard not only through our ears but through every cell in our bodies. Within our Sound Therapy sessions at The Sanctuary, the voice is used to produce a range of frequencies and tones to "tune" the energy field, with the aim of promoting harmony, health and balance in the body, mind and spirit. Effects from Sound Healing sessions are often profound and the impacts felt long after the session is over. Energetic healing through non-intrusive touch is also used as part of the session.
